1. This agreement
These Terms are an agreement between you and Empyrean Scientifica, a trade name of Beverly Index LLC, United States ("we", "us"), for your use of DREAM CODE: the Android app, the web console at beverly-index.com/dreamcode and the service behind them. By creating an account or using DREAM CODE, you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not accept them, please do not use DREAM CODE.
2. Who can use DREAM CODE
- You must be 18 or older. You confirm your age when you create an account.
- New accounts can currently be opened in the United States and Italy. Accounts already open keep working wherever you are.
- Keep your password private and your email address current. You are responsible for what happens in your account; tell us at once if you think someone else is using it.
- One person per account. Do not create an account for someone else or pretend to be someone you are not.
3. Wellness, not medical care
DREAM CODE is a journal and a tool for reflection. It does not diagnose, treat or prevent any condition, and it is not a substitute for a doctor, psychologist or other professional. Nothing in DREAM CODE is medical, psychological, legal or financial advice. A dream analysis is one way to read a dream, never a statement of fact about you, your health or your future.
4. AI-written content
Dream analyses and Dream AI chat replies are written by an AI model (currently Claude by Anthropic) from what you write. They are reflections for your wellbeing and may be incomplete, inaccurate or not right for you. Use your own judgement and do not rely on them for decisions about your health, safety or life. If an analysis or reply is offensive, harmful or wrong, please report it from inside the app (Report this analysis, or the flag on a Dream AI reply); a moderator reviews every report.
You must not use DREAM CODE to try to make the AI produce harmful, illegal or abusive content.
5. Plans and subscriptions
Every account has the Free plan. It includes the journal without limit, export at any time, the dream dictionaries, the community, and a weekly allowance of dream analyses and Dream AI chat messages. The allowance renews every Monday at 00:00 UTC; unused analyses and messages do not carry over. Re-analysing a dream uses one analysis; showing an analysis you already have does not. We may change the Free plan's allowance; we will tell you in the app before a reduction takes effect.
The paid plans, Dreamer and Dream Code Plus, and what each one includes are described in the app, on the Pricing screen. A paid plan's allowance renews at the start of each calendar month (00:00 UTC).
Subscriptions through Google Play
- Paid plans are subscriptions sold only in the DREAM CODE Android app, through Google Play Billing. They cannot be bought on the web console. A plan you buy belongs to your DREAM CODE account, so it also applies when you sign in on the web console.
- Before you confirm a purchase, Google Play shows the price in your local currency, with taxes as Google applies them. Google takes the payment under Google Play's terms.
- Your plan starts when Google confirms the purchase to our server. If Google reports a payment as pending, the plan starts once Google confirms it.
- A subscription renews automatically at the end of each month or each year, depending on the period you chose, until you cancel it.
- You can cancel at any time in Google Play, on its subscriptions page (in DREAM CODE: Pricing, then Manage subscription). Your plan stays until the end of the period you have paid for; then your account returns to the Free plan. Uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription, and neither does deleting your account, which is why the app asks you to cancel first.
- Refunds are handled by Google Play under its refund policies.
- If the price of a subscription changes, Google Play tells you in advance, as its rules require.
- Your journal and its export stay free on every plan, also after a subscription ends.
6. Your content
Your dreams, reflections and posts belong to you. You give us a limited permission to store, copy, process and transmit them only as needed to provide DREAM CODE to you: to keep and sync your journal, to send the necessary text to our AI provider for the analyses and replies you ask for, to check community content, and, for what you publish in the community, to show it to other people. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we must keep as described in the Privacy Policy. We do not use your journal for advertising and we do not sell it.
You are responsible for what you write and publish. Only share what you have the right to share.
7. Dream Community rules
Dream Community is a kind place for adults to share dreams. To post, comment or chat you must be 18 or older, accept the community guidelines, and choose a community name (3 to 24 letters, digits or underscores). Please do not use your real name. What you publish can be seen by anyone who opens Dream Community, including people who are not signed in.
Not allowed
- Sexual or explicit content. Dreams of the Sexual/Intimate type can be kept in your private journal but cannot be shared.
- Personal details that could identify anyone, yours or someone else's: full names with context, phone numbers, email addresses, street addresses or workplaces.
- Harassment, hate or slurs, and threats toward anyone.
- Any content that involves minors in a sexual or harmful context.
- Links, advertising, spam, and names that pass as DREAM CODE or its staff.
How moderation works
- Everything is checked automatically before it is published, by filters and by our AI provider. If something cannot be published, you are told why so you can edit it.
- Posts about self-harm are not published; you are shown where to find support instead.
- Anyone can report a post, comment, message or person. When several different people report the same item, it is hidden until a moderator reviews it. Reporters are never shown to anyone.
- Moderators can keep an item, remove it, remove it with a warning, or suspend an account from the community for 7 days, 30 days or permanently. Every decision is logged.
- A suspension applies to the community only: your private journal, your export and account deletion keep working.
- You can block anyone. Their posts, comments and messages are hidden from you, and they cannot comment on or like your posts.
8. Acceptable use
Do not misuse DREAM CODE. In particular, do not: break the law; try to get into accounts or data that are not yours; probe, overload or get around the security, rate limits or moderation of the service; collect information about other people from the community; use bots or automated tools to access the service; or copy, resell or build a competing service from DREAM CODE or its content.
9. Our content and trademarks
DREAM CODE, its design, its software and its own texts (including the dream symbol and dream type dictionaries and the activities) belong to Beverly Index LLC or its licensors. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable permission to use DREAM CODE for yourself, under these Terms. The Dream Code is a book by Randolph R Beverly Jr. DREAM CODE and Empyrean Scientifica are names used by Beverly Index LLC.
10. Other services
Google Play's terms also apply to the Android app you download from Google Play and to the subscriptions you buy through it. Links to other websites (for example, where to buy the book) are provided for convenience; we are not responsible for those websites.
11. Ending your use
You can stop using DREAM CODE and delete your account at any time (Profile, Delete account; see how account deletion works). Export your journal first if you want to keep a copy. If you have a subscription, cancel it in Google Play before you delete your account. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these Terms, or when the law requires it. If we ever stop offering DREAM CODE, we will give you reasonable notice and time to export your journal.
12. Disclaimers
We work to keep DREAM CODE available, accurate and safe, but it is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties, express or implied, including that the service will be uninterrupted or error free, or that analyses or replies will be accurate or suitable for you. Keep your own exports of anything you cannot afford to lose.
13. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Beverly Index LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss of data, arising from your use of DREAM CODE, and our total liability for any claim about DREAM CODE is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for DREAM CODE in the twelve months before the claim or 50 US dollars. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. If you live outside the United States, you keep any protection that the mandatory consumer laws of your country give you.
15. Changes to these Terms
If we change these Terms, we will publish the new version here with a new date. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using DREAM CODE after that, the new Terms apply; if you do not agree, you can delete your account.
